On the 18th March, 2008 Singapore Airlines flew the Airbus A380 to London & return for the very first time. 18 of us travelled a total of 24 seat sectors. 8 of us took the return flight back to Singapore 4 hours later to complete what we call the "double inaugural flight". |

We ride party flights into the history books! Or, more correctly, we are a group of dedicated aviation enthusiasts who just can't resist being aboard a big plane when it's making history. It all started a few years back when Singapore Airlines (SIA) made history when it introduced the world's longest commercial flight from Singapore to Los Angeles. Not satisfied with that SIA then bettered it with an even longer flight, from Singapore to New York, over the North Pole. The latter's flight time was nearly 19 hours nonstop. Those of us who were on those flights recounted the adventure on an internet aviation forum called FlyerTalk.com and the "infection" quickly spread! We have now evolved into a core group of dedicated "nutters", with a loose headcount of around 20, for whom new commercial aviation frontiers are an irresistable attraction! |
In October 2007, Singapore Airlines flew the first commercial flights of the Airbus A380 from Singapore to Sydney & return again the next day. Our core group expanded dramatically from that trip and that prompted our first website, www.SQ380.net to commemorate the flight. |
Isabelle (pictured at left) is one of our worst offenders. Her certificate collection now totals about twenty! Thomas Marks Lee probably tops the group with the distinction of having flown on the first commercial flight of the Boeing 747 AND that of the Airbus A380 AND that of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner! |
Our group is diverse coming from cities in Australia, Thailand, the U.K., Spain, Switzerland, South Korea, Italy, & the U.S.A. |
